Life after university and what’s next
Finishing my three years at Falmouth University, it was bittersweet leaving behind someone the best support, friends and overall experience learning all things post production and working on such a wide range of projects.
The world beyond has expanded for me and I once again felt like a small fish in the ocean, looking for my next opportunity to kickstart my career.
This website was an idea planned by my university as a submission for our curriculum, given the end of my education journey, I decided all this work should not be put to vain and we can also add a blog to this journey, documenting as many experiences as I can, sharing the works that I can produce and keeping check on my progress.
What about work?
Well, I guess my journey is not that simple, being international in the United Kingdom (UK) was never easy to find work. I had offers but a visa was the main blockade to having a career here. I have had some freelance work (to share in the future) and smaller projects, but nothing that a company would want to hire and sponsor me for at the moment.
I have 2 more years in the UK, till July 2026 with my visa extension. With this limit I told myself, if ever were to leave, I would do so knowing deep down inside I did my best and I learnt everything I can push myself and know that it was never meant to be. I can take my experiences and bring it forward to my next endeavor back home in SIngapore.
I guess the best way to go through this slow slump is just to be positive and to understand that we cannot change the world, but we can do our best for ourselves to make living in it as enjoyable as we can.
What’s next?
Well, as this blog progresses and I myself have plans to do things for myself, moving forward is the only way to go and I will do so knowing I have nothing to lose but all to gain.
Till then, stay tuned!
