Filling my time

Updated: Oct 21

Day to day and keeping creative and motivated With the current industry reaching a little bump, I find as a graduate hard to find work. I have been grateful to have a lot of experience during my time at university but there are a lot of things that I struggle with till today. It is always a constant struggle to do your best and to always see if we are good enough and what we can do to balance out our passion and to still keep moving forward.

Setbacks and the pressure

I personally, fall into the victim of comparison. It is perfectly normal to compare yourself to others and I am very guilty of it as well. Seeing some of your peers find work and success early on, sometimes you feel like the more you do and hope that the hard work pays off, it is hard to see that you are still left in the unknown and with nothing to do.

It always is something that you think at the back of your head, are you actually good, was it all just a facade when you were in the education system? Do I have what it takes to move forward in this career? I think to myself this all the time, even till today, it is also deeply rooted in myself to want to be a people pleaser, working in post to me is the fine balance of helping someone and showcasing my creative skills to bring any vision to life.

Being left in the shadows is not the most positive environment, and also you will forever see your peers and compare them to their success, sometimes it was just never meant to be, and we cannot change that, only ourselves and what we can do. I always wish my peers the best, and I hope one day we can work together no matter where we go.

What have I been doing to move forward?

I always think the best chance for me to grow is not only to look for inspiration, but to learn from my experience working with different dynamics. Soft skills along with the technical abilities together is a very powerful combination and I find that being a pleasant creative to work with plays a big part in this.

Harnessing the creative magic (Last picture on a break)

I have started to really think on my own projects that I am really proud to make, and will take the risk to try and experiment as I grow myself as an aspiring creative professional. Thankful for all the friends I made along the way to help and support me, I hope to work harder and be able to create new projects and have something that is fresh.

With all that, in the meantime I also hope to keep disciplined and not spiral into a slump of negativity. Pacing myself to keep moving, I hope to also find jobs by trying to send an email once a day, and to always keep a lookout.

As of current there are a few projects I am so ready to share, and I hope to be able to write about them and share soon.
